Summer Rhythms
June 11, 2026
All the J months have their own rhythm. June has reminded me that families and people are busy and tend to feel better with the sun being out longer. People take vacations, slow down a little bit, allow themselves to have more fun, and take in the magic of summer. So, for me, what that means is a chance to slow down a little here and read or sit with those who also attune to people who are hurting. I so appreciate people who have ‘gone before’ me in this work.
One of the nuggets of wisdom that comes with experience is being able to have empathy for people who are trying something new….making changes that require focus, patience and the ability to sit with discomfort longer. Many of my clients are at some tipping point in their lives. They long for answers that might take years or a lifetime to come. But, they are willing to risk asking questions so that they can become their authentic self in the world and in their relationships. This is brave work.
New rhythms mean new movements. These new movements may feel uncomfortable because they require one to see and hear what hasn’t been heard before in the body and experiences. The desire to be healthy mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually and relationally is also brave work. It is work that forces one to examine places that have been ignored, rejected or abandoned.
With these ‘J’ months of summer what new rhythms might be humming under the surface of life? What growth needs to happen so that the authentic self can be seen again? What dance needs to change for healing to begin? What music might be made with better and deeper relationships?
I hope the summer opens up opportunity for you to hear new ‘grooves’ in your mind, body and spirit that offer healing and restoration to your authentic self.
